Now a days one cannot deny the importance of  CAD/CAM ( Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing) .  Through my channel I will tell you how both these computer software are used in designing and manufacture the products that is CNC machining.


Before starting let me give you brief idea about CAM and CAD computer software.
CAM is used to control machine tools. With the use of computer one can assist in all operations of a manufacturing plant including planning management, transportation and storage. It’s primary purpose is to create a faster production process and components and tooling with more precise dimensions and material consistency thus minimizing waste of raw material with simultaneously reducing energy consumption too.  Now a days CAM is used in many schools too with CAD  to create objects.


It is just like computer assistance by the pilot of modern aircraft systems.  The modern machine cannot be properly used without this assistance. With the help of CAM, manufacturers can improve their machining capabilities. It improves productivity of CNC machines.

And CAD Computer Aided Design  is the use of computers to aid in the creation, modification, analysis or optimization of a design.  It  is the process of creating a technical drawing with the use of computer software. One can design curves, figures in 2D space or curves , surfaces and solids in 3D space. CAD is used in automotive shipbuilding, aerospace industries, architectural design.  It is also used to produce computer animation for special effects in movies, advertising and technical manuals.  So, it is very useful to maximize work efficiency.

Not only this we could be able to make higher quality designs, reuse and easily change the designs also .  We can simplify the design,  share it, document the design , thus , it develops the skill of the designer because with the help of CAD a designer could design physical objects in a virtual workspace.

Now the most important part CNC machining, which is a new innovative technology. With the help of this programming we can control machine tools  like drills, boring tools , lathes etc and 3D printers by means of a computer.  A computer converts the design produced by CAD into numbers. CNC takes digitized data, a computer and CAM program is used to control, automate and monitor the movements of a machine.

CAD CAM CNC machining helps you to review the tool paths of your programme before physically machining the part.  It allows you to check for any errors on the machine part and tool.  One can see exactly how the finished part will look on your machine in a virtual environment.

The biggest benefit is eliminated waste as you end up no longer scrapping parts due to programming errors. It really is about having satisfaction and peace of mind.
